I am a self-taught, freelance illustrator with decades of experience. My passion began at an early age when my grandmother read European fairy-tale picture books to me and the world exploded into form and color for the first time. My interests in fairy tale art compelled me to pursue a career with Walt Disney Pictures in traditional hand drawn animation ... though that dream was relinquished in 1996 so I could begin pursuing another passion: writing novels and illustrating the covers.
In 2012, my closest friend convinced me to return to my roots and form our own animation company: DatComics. Following in the footsteps of such comedians as Benny Hill and Mel Brooks, DatComics was created to promote politically incorrect, animated shorts. Influenced by classic Disney animators such as Fred Moore, Ollie Johnston, and Glen Keane, as well as Playboy cartoonist, Dean Yeagle, my artistic approach to the women of DatComics is reminiscent of 1950's pin-ups blended with the heightened expressions, emotions, and moods inherent in animation. Though writing and illustrating book covers continues to be my primary passion, DatComics allows me the opportunity to take myself a little less seriously and to dabble in an altogether different, artistic discipline. Although Youtube is the primary home for our animated shorts, my friend encouraged me to present some of our images here.
My art style and the medium I use constantly evolves depending on the type of mood I am trying to create in my work. Thus, an illustration of fantasy differs radically from one of horror. Although I have been exposed to many forms of art, including: animation, comic-book art, traditional life drawings, sculpture, and work with digital media, I never truly settled on a favorite.
